Wenhaston (http://www.wenhaston.ws) is a small, pretty village with church, school, post-office, garden centre, riding stables and excellent pub, in the Blyth river valley, surrounded by heaths, marshes and estuary. It won the Suffolk Coastal Village of the year Award in 2004. Many local footpaths. Halesworth (3 miles)has good shops, cafes, art centre, antiques, banks and supermarket. Halesworth golf course (pay and play) 3 miles. Blythburgh, Dunwich Forest and Blythe estuary are also 3 miles away. Sothwold, Dunwich and Walberswick are 6 miles away on the Suffolk coast, and they have good beaches. 6 miles east lies the RSPB bird reserve of Minsmere, where the famous Avocet lives!
Beccles and Norfolk broads start 10 miles north. Aldeburgh, Snape maltings and Framlingham castle are 10 miles south. Excellent base to explore Suffolk and South Norfolk villages, towns and coast.
